THOUSANDS of racing-lovers have filed through the gates of the Darwin Turf Club, thrilled that the Darwin Cup is going ahead this year despite initial COVID-19 concerns.
Lauren Warthold and Sandy Nair said they attend the Cup every year to “people watch” and to check out the Fashions on the Field.
“Oh, and the champagne,” Ms Warthold added.
Chris and Rachael Keating said they usually get to the races around four times per season and were worried the Darwin Cup was in danger of being cancelled.

“This season is obviously different because of coronavirus,” Ms Keating said.
“We’re surprised it’s (the Cup) going ahead.”
