THE tender for the first stage of works on Charles Darwin University’s CBD campus has been released.
The tender for earthworks for the Cavenagh St site was released yesterday and will close on July 23. Sydney-based company Capital Insight will manage the works and administer the contract.
Once awarded the car park will be demolished and site excavated to accommodate the structure and two-level car park with 230 bays.

The scope of works includes:
Maintenance of site hoardings and signage in good condition during the works.
Provision and maintenance of safety fencing and tree protection.
Maintaining the health of protected trees.
Demolition of car park surfaces, kerbs and gutters.
Excavation and removal of all material.
Provision of traffic management.
Thus far the new campus will include the College of Business and Law, the College of Indigenous Futures, Arts and Society, CDU Pathways College, executive and administration staff, and the CDU Library and integration with the NT Government Library.
The full list of colleges and units to relocate to the new campus is not finalised.
The project team includes CDU’s own engineering and maintenance team, with other relevant in-house professionals.

“The team has the capacity to participate in decision-making and will lead the interface with end users and other stakeholders,” the tender reads.
Other design consultants include ARM Architecture, Irwin Consulting and Tonkin.
This week the Cavenagh St site, worth $14.6 million, was officially transferred from Darwin council to CDU.

The 391-bay parking area is set to close on Sunday.
The site is expected to be prepared a week after the tender is awarded, with works to begin immediately after.
Construction of the campus is proposed for April 2021.
