Countdown on to Darwin Fringe Festival program

Performers are relishing the chance to perform in front of a live audience as they count down the days until Darwin Fringe Festival kicks off.

PERFORMERS are relishing the chance to perform in front of a live audience in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic as they count down the days until Darwin Fringe Festival kicks off in July.

One of those performers, playwright Hanada Ghazala’s show Baklava and Balaclavas is a new take on the Australian immigration experience.

“What I am trying to do is break down some racial barriers by saying ‘here is a palatable way of seeing this perspective’,” she said.

Ms Ghazala said the Fringe Festival allows up and coming artists to present their works on an established platform.

The full Darwin Fringe Festival program launches on May 31, with more than 60 shows already on sale via darwinfringe.org.au
