It comes after Independent MLA Robyn Lambley joined Territory Alliance on Wednesday, giving the party enough seats to officially seize NT Opposition status.

The NT News has obtained a copy of a email sent by the NT Legislative Assembly Clerk Michael Tatham on Thursday.

In it, he said Speaker Kezia Purick has authorised him to advise on the outgoing and incoming logistics of bringing in Territory Alliance as the new Opposition.

“The staff from the outgoing Leader of the Opposition are now packing up the Leader of the Opposition office on the fourth floor of Parliament House,” he said.

“Those staff are employed by the Department of the Chief Minister who will be in touch with them as to when their roles cease.”

He said the moving process was expected to be completed by mid next week.

“The Member for Araluen (Robyn Lambley) will not be moving offices,” he said.

“The Member for Daly (Gary Higgins) and the Member for Spillett (Lia Finoncciaro) will be moving into offices formerly occupied by the Members for Fong Lim (Jeff Collins) and Blain (Terry Mills) once they are empty and cleaned.

“The cessation of and commencement of staff and budget allocated to the Leader of the Opposition is a matter for the Department of the Chief Minister.”
