COUNTRY Liberals candidate for Port Darwin, Rose Watts, has dropped out of the election less than a month after being preselected.
CLP president Ron Kelly said the Darwin lawyer withdrew her candidacy recently due to “personal reasons.”

“She came forward and said she wished to stand down,” he said.
“We will endorse another candidate and we’ll do that as we move forward.”
He said the party will also decide soon whether failed Johnston candidate Josh Thomas will recontest the same seat in the August election.

Mr Kelly said the party were “taking stock” after the candidate’s February by-election failure that saw the CLP’s primary vote count down 15 per cent compared with the 2016 Territory election in that seat.
