TERRITORIANS are not shying away from getting their COVID-19 vaccination jab.

The Phase 1b COVID vaccine rollout has started through 25 Territory-based private general practices and three respiratory clinics. Clinics contacted by the NT News have reported a steady flow of calls from the public wanting to get their first dose of the vaccine.

A spokesman for NT PHN was not surprised by the quick uptake.

“We have been receiving inquiries from people wanting to get the COVID vaccine before the rollout,” the spokesman said.

The Phase 1b rollout targets: adults over 70 years; health care workers; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults; adults with a specified medical condition; disability workers and critical and high-risk workers such as defence, police, fire and emergency services people.

The rollout will be staged over four weeks, with the first general practices starting vaccinations in the Territory from next Monday.
