A TEENAGE girl has been punched in the face during a terrifying home invasion in Darwin overnight, in which two offenders entered her bedroom as she slept.
NT Police Northern Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Len Turner said about 1.30am today, two male offenders had entered a house on Sanford St, Leanyer through an unlocked back door.
He said the men stole some items before entering a bedroom where a 14-year-old girl was sleeping.
“She woke up and challenged the males, and they ran towards the front door,” he said.
“The female tried to grab one of the males and she was punched in the face.”
Snr Sgt Turner also said there were several other family members at home at the time.
He said police were called and attended the scene, and arrested a 14-year-old boy a short time later.
The boy is in police custody and is expected to be charged with unlawfully entering a property while occupied at night-time, stealing and robbery.
Police are still searching for a second male and their investigations are continuing.
