Darwin Lord mayor Kon Vatskalis has called for a review into the monitoring of accidents from Neuron eScooters, suggesting to lock them at times when people may be drunk.
Mr Vatskalis requested council staff prepare a report, given the stories he’d heard of people injuring themselves on eScooters.

“I want to find out why this happening, also to find out the distribution of the injuries, they have in the morning, do they happen to midday that happened late in the afternoon … late in the afternoon indicates some people probably get on the drink, and then taking unnecessary risks,” he said.
“Can we lock them so people after a particular time cannot drive them because that’s most likely to be when they are drunk or take risks?”

Mr Vatskalis said it was important to work to correct the program while the trial was ongoing.
“Before we actually finalise the, the trial, I would like to give this information now,” he said.
“So if we find something is wrong, we can work with a company to correct it.”
