CCTV footage of a woman faceplanting off a Neuron scooter after hitting a gutter in the Darwin CBD has sparked a push for Council to have the gutter removed out of fear that “someone will be killed.”
The video, understood to have been captured in the early hours of Saturday morning, shows a woman riding a scooter towards the corner of Smith Street and Knuckey Street before unexpectedly hitting the gutter and flying over the handlebars.
“This corner across from Salvatores near old Woolworths building is going to kill someone,” the man who posted the video on Facebook said.
“I know of ambulances twice and three other incidents with scooters, if you do not remove the gutter Kon/council someone will be killed.
“Problem is all the other corners on this crossroad do not have a gutter.”
Some people commenting on the post disagreed, saying the rider should have been wearing a helmet and been more aware of her surroundings.

“People are just stupid, it’s clearly a gutter. It’s painted yellow,” one commenter said.
“Why these people not wearing helmets,” said another.
A City of Darwin spokeswoman said Council would investigate the incident.
