IN a bid to promote safety on its range of eScooters and eBikes, Neuron Mobility has launched a ScootSafe campaign ahead of Christmas, in partnership with the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF).
With eScooters typically used more during public holidays, many tend to be new riders or tourists to cities, unaware of the rules and regulations.
Neuron Mobility regional manager Jayden Bryant said while this could lead to cases of people riding without helmets, in tandem or under 18s operating eScooters – which are all violations – the mobility company needed to ensure all riders were encouraged to be safe.

“Neuron’s eScooters are as safe as they have ever been. However, like all forms of mobility, complacency over the Christmas break could lead to accidents,” he said.
“We have a very low rate of eScooter incidents across Australia, but we want to take this opportunity to reinforce the rules and our safety guidelines with the holiday period upon us.”
The campaign has coincided with a number of nasty incidents, including harrowing footage of a rider face- planting after his eScooter hit a poorly marked kerb in the Darwin CBD
But ARSF chief executive Russell White said riders had to take responsibility for their actions.

“People need to be using the scooter in a way that’s situationally aware.”
