Leanyer Water Park has gotten a whole lot cooler, with a facelift and new water slides, as it opens today in time for the school holidays.
Joanna Fitzgerald said her daughters Clementine and Lola couldn’t wait to have a go on the slide.
“It looks very cool, the girls are very excited about getting on it,” she said.
“When we first moved to Darwin I was always blown away by the fact it’s free, more states and Territories should be doing it, it’s a huge drawcard.”

Sport Minister Kate Worden said the $3.1m Leanyer Recreation Park upgrades would make a more inclusive and accessible space for those with restricted mobility or disease.
“The upgrades will mean families and visitors can look forward to new water slides, the return of the water bucket and refreshed playgrounds,” she said.
“It’s great to see stage one complete in time for the school holidays.”

Stage two is the dry play area, being on track to be completed by early-May, and stage three of the wet play area due to be completed by the end of 2021.
