THE body of mine employee Craig Butler was today recovered from the Bootu Creek mine.

Work began on Saturday to retrieve the body of Craig Butler after data showed the site was stable.

The mine pit wall collapsed on Saturday, August 24, engulfing the 59-year-old man under soil and rock.

A police spokesman as there is a coronial investigation underway.

NT Police will be providing no further comment.

“Our sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Mr Butler,” he said.

“We thank everyone involved in the recovery.”
