40-year-old woman dies after alleged hit and run on Stuart Hwy, Berrimah in July
An alleged hit-and-run incident on the Stuart Hwy has turned fatal four months after the crash, with the involved learner driver’s charges to be upgraded.

The 40-year-old woman hit by a car on the Stuart Hwy in July has succumbed to her injuries.
The woman was a pedestrian when she was injured in an alleged hit-and-run incident in Berrimah on July 12.
She was flown to Royal Adelaide Hospital where she remained until she died as a result of her injuries on Sunday night.
A 17-year-old learner driver was arrested at an address in Jingili following help from witnesses.
He was arrested on July 13.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said Major Crash detectives were continuing to investigate the crash.
“The alleged offender, who was a youth at the time, remains before the court,” he said.
“He is facing numerous charges which will be upgraded in due course as a result of the death.”
The road toll for 2022 currently stands at 47.
At the same time last year it was 29, with 35 recorded overall in 2021.
Deaths more than 30 days after a road crash are not included in the road toll, an NT police spokesman said.
