Four teenagers have been charged by police after they were arrested at gunpoint on the Gold Coast.

A Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman said four boys were allegedly involved in an attempted burglary at about 1.40am on Wednesday at home in Maudsland.

“The residents disturbed the offenders who fled in a stolen Nissan Patrol,” the QPS spokesman said.

“Shortly after this, the Nissan Patrol was involved in a collision with a Kia Stinger at Kopps Road.”

A dog squad officer responded to the incident and allegedly discovered the four teenagers in the Nissan Patrol wearing balaclavas.

The QPS spokesman said the officer was initially unsure if there were more people in the car or if they were armed and drew their gun, keeping the occupants on the scene until they were taken into custody.

A 14-year-old Helensvale boy, 15-year-old Caboolture boy, and two 16-year-old boys from Logan have been charged with a number of offences including unlawful possession of weapons, unlawful use of a motor vehicles, and suspected stolen property.

The Nissan Patrol involved in the incident was reported stolen from Masthead Drive in Cleveland on Monday.
