Almost a thousand people marched, danced and celebrated together at Darwin’s 2024 Pride Parade, with an abundance of glitter, colour and fun all on display.
The festivities kicked off early on Saturday when families and couples enjoyed the Darwin Waterfront’s pride-themed site, with face painting, music and drag queen events throughout the afternoon.
Drag queen Ferocia Coutura said she was proud to see hundreds of people descend on the Waterfront throughout the day.
“The more the merrier, it’s so special to see a community like Darwin bring so much happiness and diversity to this,” she said.
“Be amazing, be the way you are and be fabulous.”
Mid-afternoon, the much-loved Pride Parade attracted a wave of keen partygoers at the Darwin Convention Centre, with a spattering of public figures also in attendance such a NT Administrator Hugh Heggie and former Chief Minister Natasha Fyles.
Before the march commenced, the crowd was entertained by a colourful dance performance which set the tone for the vibrant evening to follow.
