The Territory’s biggest music festival BASSINTHEGRASS returned for another year with more than 14,000 people making their way to Mindil Beach for the event’s 21st year.
The likes of J-Milla, King Stingray and Elephant Town flew the flag for the Territory alongside headline act Macklemore who took the stage late in the evening.
Locals came down for their taste of the wall to wall entertainment while plenty of music-loving punters came from much further afield.
Natalia Mundy and Shenaya Mundy-Kemp had made the trip from Albany, right at the bottom of Western Australia, just for the festival in what was their first ever visit to Darwin.
“We’ve driven up for the festival and then we’re going to drive back down for three weeks,” Ms Mundy-Kemp said.
“I’m very excited for Macklemore, I’m pumped to see him live.”
They had also fallen in love with the vibe of the Top End had to offer outside the BASSINTHEGRASS showcase along the course of their trip.
“I love Darwin, I just love it, it’s got its own little vibe going on and I just love it,” Ms Mundy said.
They weren’t the only ones to make the drive up to the Top End just for the event with Hannah Danise being a return visitor, and this time bringing her friend Shannon Hood along for the ride.
“I enjoyed it enough to come back, we’re from Adelaide and drove up just for Bass,” Ms Danise said.
“It’s just so chill, it the salt of the earth type of event, it’s family friendly meets festival and it’s just a really good time.
“Darwin is a ten out of ten place, we’re both talking about moving up here, particularly with the weather right now, it’s perfect for us.”
