The Tennant Creek Show has been cancelled over Covid-19 concerns for the second year running, just a week before it was set to begin.

THE Tennant Creek Show has been cancelled over Covid-19 concerns for the second year running, just a week before it was set to begin.
The Tennant Creek and District Show Society made the announcement on Friday afternoon. The decision follows the cancellation of the Alice Springs Show which was set to open its gates on Friday.
The Tennant Creek and District Show Society thanked those involved with the show in a statement.
“After consulting with NT Government and other relevant stakeholders it has been decided not to proceed with the show due to the Covid-19 risk,” the statement read.

“The show society is working with the Showmen’s Guild to try and organise an event at a later date for the community.”
Meanwhile more than 1,500 Alice Springs residents have signed an online petition for the show to be postponed, rather than cancelled.
On Saturday, show bags will be sold at the Larapinta IGA car park between 9am-5pm.
“Come and help support a show vendor as they have been waiting for this moment,” the IGA announced on Facebook.
