HEAVY rain at the weekend has confirmed the wettest wet season in a decade for Alice Springs.
An earlier rain band this month nudged the rain tally to slightly above average.
Roe Creek in Ilparpa, just outside Alice Springs, reached a healthy flow after the consistent rainfall.
The Bureau of Meteorology recorded 50mm of rain in Alice Springs in the 24 hours to 9am Monday morning.
Sadly, this wasn’t quite enough for the sandy bed of the Todd River to reach a proper flow, which would’ve been the third time since December.

A spokeswoman for the Bureau of Meteorology explained on ABC radio it was due to the fact the rain came down as a constant trickle, and never reached a heavy downpour across the Todd’s catchment area.
Some large puddles could be seen gathering in its bed just past the Gap.

Nearby, 57mm was recorded at Mount Lloyd, while the Finke River saw 48mm.
In the Lasseter District, 52.2mm was recorded at Curtin Springs.
