A TEENAGER has been remanded behind bars after he was charged with one count of sexual intercourse without consent in relation to an incident last month

A 15-year-old boy has been remanded behind bars after he was charged with one count of sexual intercourse without consent in relation to an incident last month in Alice Springs.
Police said in a statement released today, after the NT Independent published a story on the matter, that the youth was arrested the day after the alleged incident for a separate matter.

A police media spokesman said information in regards to the alleged sexual assault was not released sooner as it was awaiting approval.
Police released an alert on February 22 calling for information in relation to occupants of a Gillen home waking to find offenders in their home just after 2am.
The release details Strike Force Viper members found two youths aged 12 and 14 in the area and allegedly in possession of items stolen from the home.
The two were taken into custody.

The release did not say a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted.
Police said the teenager was further remanded in custody on March 5 and will appear before court on April 19.
