A 25-YEAR-old man has been charged in relation to the aggravated assault of a man in Todd Street late last year.
Around 11pm on Friday, December 11, the man allegedly approached a man unknown to him inside a takeaway restaurant where they engaged in a brief conversation.
It is alleged the man produced a large edged weapon and lunged at the victim with it.
The pair engaged in a violent struggle which was observed by multiple witnesses who attempted to intervene and assist the victim in disarming the alleged offender.

The victim was struck to the face throughout the altercation, and the pair eventually separated before the alleged offender fled the scene.

At 11:50am on Thursday, members from Strike Force Viper located and arrested the alleged offender.
He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, unlawfully cause serious harm, going armed in public and possess/use controlled weapon – night time.
He will appear before court at a later date.
