AUSTRALIA Post has announced it will take over operations of Tennant Creek’s post office after its manager and her husband were charged with money laundering and stealing in May.

A spokesman for Australia Post said the take over will commence next Tuesday, 29 June.

“We look forward to continuity of services for the Tennant Creek community and to servicing our valued customers there,” the spokesman said.

Rebecca Liebelt was last month charged with stealing, obtaining benefit by deception and money laundering.

Her husband Greg faces similar charges, except on an upgraded charge of aggravated stealing.

The couple again appeared in Tennant Creek Local Court on Monday, where Mrs Liebelt’s bail was varied to match her husband’s, which allows him to travel within the Northern Territory.
