AN Alice Springs pensioner with a green thumb was heartbroken to find her garden had been destroyed in a senseless act, but is now nursing a plethora of new plants thanks to a garden angel.

Marie Windley, 64, said she came home one day to find her beloved plants had been ripped out and destroyed.

“I was in tears when I saw them. I love my plants,” she said.

After posting on Facebook, Marie got a beautiful message from Alice Springs Nursery owner Bee Pedersen who offered her a generous voucher to get new plants.

“I was amazed somebody so kind could do that for me. I was very overwhelmed and I cried,” Marie said.

“The plants are absolutely beautiful. They are flowering and I tend to them every day.

“It’s nice to know of the kind-hearted people who live in Alice Springs who do kind things for strangers.”
