Security Contact Officer at Alice Springs Airport, Neil Shay, said it would allow time for all passengers to get familiar with the body scanner while awaiting the full screening point upgrades.
“The new screening equipment will provide a more enhanced and efficient way of security screening passengers,” Mr Shay said.
“We know this will be a big change for people travelling through our airport. We will have additional security staff on hand during this period to assist with the introduction of the new equipment.”
The second phase of works will incorporate the Computed Tomography (CT) passenger x-ray screening systems.
