HAIRDRESSING is more than cutting or colouring a client’s hair, it involves good communication, therapy, chats and laughs, Dahlia West says.

The Alice Springs hairdresser loves everything about her job, and it appears her clients love her flair for it – voting her as one of the best hairdressers in the NT.

Dahlia, who owns at La’Hair Lounge, took out third spot in NT News’ recent best-of poll,

where more than 800 people voted in the search for the Territory’s favourite hairdresser.

Dahlia started hairdressing at age 14, and got back into it during her 20s after a break.

She opened La’Hair Lounge six years ago working by herself, but after a year the business grew to needing staff and a bigger space.

“I’m proud of where we are today and I’ve got a really good team behind me.”

Dahlia said they way her salon works is “about trying to make the person feel great and then forming a bond with them”.

“You want them to feel comfortable in your chair and you want to form a bond with them.

communicate.

“I’m quite lucky now because all my clients have become really good friends.
