NAKARA stylist Sarah Sapkota has been crowned the Territory’s favourite hairdresser by an overwhelming majority.
More than 800 people voted in the NT News’ search for the Territory’s favourite hairdresser, with Ms Sapkota sweeping the competition with 135 votes.
Originally from Nepal, Ms Sapkota stumbled across hairdressing while living in Sydney, and after getting her diploma moved to Darwin and opened Sunsil Hair & Brow Studio.
“(Hairdressing) has changed my life totally, I’m a different person now,’ she said. “I love talking to people, I love to listen to them — they’re like my family, my clients.
Ms Sapkota said she took listening to her clients and their needs seriously, which allowed her to develop close relationships with her clients.
“You have to listen to them,” she said.
“That’s the most important part about being a hairdresser, listening to them then decide what’s the next step.”
