A “dominant” Drysdale continued its unbeaten start to the season, powering away to a strong win against Barwon Heads.

The Hawks trailed at quarter time before kicking 17 goals to three to finish with a 18.12 (120) to 6.8 (44) victory.

Key forward Mat Hebbard continued his hot month of football, kicking seven goals in the win.

He now has 60 goals in 13 games, including 26 in the last four rounds of football.

Drysdale co-coach Ben Carmichael said he was really happy with his side’s performance.

“We missed some easy goals early, so we looked at it as we weren’t playing that poorly, we just needed to start converting,” he said.

“Mat (Hebbard) has been fantastic this year, if he’s not kicking goals he’s setting them up for others and bringing the ball to ground, he’s a really experienced footballer and a real asset for us.”

Barwon Heads has lost its past two games against Drysdale and Torquay, with the combined total margin reaching 106 points.

But Seagulls coach Dan Donati said he was not panicking, with the best 22 still yet to play together this season.

“We’ve still got guys to come back in, our young guys have been fantastic to hold down the fort for us in the past couple of months,” he said.

“It’s been a rough two weeks against two great sides, who are both clearly still the benchmark of the competition, but after the bye we’ll have our work cut out for us to make top two or top three.

“Drysdale was dominant, they were very good for long periods.”

Anglesea v Modewarre

Three goals to Modewarre forward Tom Hornsey has put a dent in Anglesea’s finals hopes, with the Warriors claiming a 14.18 (102) to 10.9 (69) victory.

A clear wind advantage to one end kept Anglesea within 11 points at half time, but a 6.13 second half to Modewarre helped the side grow the buffer to 33 points.

Newcomb v Queenscliff

A four-goal haul to Newcomb’s Jack Duke has helped the Power to a 12.9 (81) to 9.16 (70) victory against Queenscliff.

The Coutas had a run late in the game to potentially steal the win, but wayward kicking cost the travelling team.

The win lifts Newcomb above Ocean Grove on the BFL ladder.

Portarlington v Geelong Amateur

Ammos forward Kristian Bucovaz had a day out against Portarlington, slotting eight goals in a massive 22.21 (153) to 3.5 (23) victory.

Bucovaz was just one of nine goal scorers for Geelong Amateur, with vice-captain Sam Darley kicking three majors and Max Hungerford slotting three himself.

Torquay v Ocean Grove

A seven-goal-to-nothing second quarter set up a day of pain for Ocean Grove, with Torquay running out 27.14 (176) to 3.6 (24) winners over the Grubbers.

Tiger Sheldon Ham slotted seven majors while Ben Raidme kicked six himself in the massive win, with Torquay able to pile on 13 unanswered goals with the breeze in the final term.
