Motorsports enthusiasts have even more chances to show off their wheels as the Red CentreNATS returns with a program full of old favourites and new additions.
Thousands will descend on Alice Springs from September 1-3 for the country’s most unique automotive festival.
Dubbed the Ultimate Festival on Wheels, the event will take place across the Alice Springs Inland Dragway, Blatherskite Park and Lasseters Centre of Entertainment.
And thanks to a special permit system, Alice Springs will become the only place in the country where participants can drive their highly modified, unregistered rides on the street.
The Red CentreNATS Fringe Festival will bring the CBD to life on August 31 from 6-9pm with some entrants allowed to show off their rides early for a show ‘n’ shine on the Council Lawns.
Another new event is the Motorvation Super Cruise where all entrants are invited to power skid down Alice Springs Inland Dragway and through the burnout pad.
And there’s plenty of returning features including the rides in the Elite Shed, burnouts, the heavy hitter drag racing, grass driving and the famous Yeperenye Street Parade.
Major Events minister Paul Kirby said the Red CentreNATS was a must see for all motor enthusiasts.
“Red CentreNATS delivers all the action motorsport lovers enjoy, in a truly unique location,” Mr Kirby said.
“(It attracts) some of Australia’s rarest and most beautifully restored vehicles and their owners to Alice Springs to be a part of three days of motorsport fun.
“Hundreds of interstate entrants stay in local accommodation, eat at local restaurants, and use RCN as a chance to experience sights and attractions across the region.
“RCN 2022 was responsible for generating a total expenditure stimulus in the Northern Territory, of $6.9m, and $6.2m was new money to the Territory.”
Tickets for spectators and entrants are open now, with a three-day Chrome pass just $75 if purchased at redcentrenats.com.au
