CAR enthusiasts across the country have made the pilgrimage to Central Australia for the high-octane action of the Red CentreNATS.
The automotive extravaganza began on Wednesday with entrant scrutineering and a family night at Lasseter’s Lawns.
The event is spread across three venues, the Alice Springs Inland Dragway, Blatherskite Park and Lasseters Centre of Entertainment.
Thursday’s program at ASID was rescheduled to Friday due to a rain forecast.
The program boasts the Burnout Masters, Yeperenye Street Parade, show cars, glass driving and the official Mulletfest.
Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez was thrilled to astound the masses with the magic of motorsports.
“We’re stoked to be back in Alice with thousands of motor-heads for this year’s Red CentreNATS. It has to be the most unique motoring festival in Australia,” he said.
“Elite show cars, Burnout Masters, Top Fuel drag racing, a massive street parade, and best of all, crazy modified cars safely cruising the streets of Alice. There is nothing else like this show in the world.”
One highlight of the program is the Red CentreNATS wedding on Saturday.
Canberra couple Joel Sykes and partner Bonnie will tie the knot at Blatherskite Park, followed by a party at Lasseters.
The motor-heads won the chance to marry at the event.
“It’s been an unforgettable week travelling all the way from Canberra to Alice Springs for Red CentreNATS,” Bonnie said.
“We made a few stops along the way to make the most of our exciting road trip adventure.
“Joel and I are thrilled to be in the Red Centre to most importantly get hitched, but also to be able to cruise the streets of Alice and participate in as many scheduled events as we can while we are here.”
The Red CentreNATS ends on Sunday with a party at Lasseters, featuring AC/DC tribute band High Voltage.
