The Red CentreNATS once again proved a huge success in 2022, with the event known for wheels, bogans and mullets attracting plenty of social and economic benefits for the Alice Springs region.
The motoring extravaganza which features everything from drags and burnouts to 4WD and the famous street parade has become an annual pilgrimage for revheads from across the country.
Australia’s Ultimate Festival of Wheels generated a total expenditure of $6.9m, 90 per cent of which was new money injected into the Territory economy.
The 2022 Red CentreNATS was also responsible for more than 20,000 visitor nights across the Territory, with more than half of entrants stating they would return for the 2023 event.
It was a record breaking year for the event with 1044 entrants, and almost 5000 individuals attending the event stationed at Alice Springs Inland Dragway, Blatherskite Park and Lasseters Centre of Entertainment.
Major Events Minister Paul Kirby said the Red CentreNATS was a successful event year after year which continued to boost NT economy.
“We are proud to deliver this iconic event, which continues to attract motorists from all corners of the country,” Mr Kirby said.
“Planning is already in full swing for the 2023 event. It’s shaping up to be another incredible festival that not only supports Territory jobs, but pus us on the map as a must-do visitor location.”
Registrations are already open for the 2023 festival which will take place over the Father’s Day weekend from September 1-3.
