For Mr Voukolos, who works at Fishing and Outdoor World, fishing has been a lifelong passion.

He was the first to reel in an eligible catch in both the 2016 and 2017 seasons, and has now snagged out-of-season tagged barras in 2018 and now 2021.

“I didn’t see at first. We had caught 10-15 barras that night and that was the last one and only when I went to clean it did I see the tag,” Mr Voukolos said of the 72cm tagged barra.

“It was disappointing it was ineligible as it’s the second time for me.

“Everyone was saying that the $10,000 fish should stay active. That would make someone’s day.”
