People are just realising what the hooks on shopping trolleys are for

While some people think they're to hang roast chooks off, they actually have a very different purpose...

What the hook on the trolley is really for

Have you ever been grocery shopping and wished there was somewhere to put your reusable bags?

You could place them in your trolley, but that would take up precious space, or you could wear them over your shoulder and look like a crazy old bag lady.

OR there's always the 'forget them in the car' trick, which works every time.

But it turns out, there's actually a feature on shopping trolleys that is specifically designed to hold your bags... and it's been in front of us this whole time.

The Woolworths trolley hack

Sydney Woolworths employee Liam Kirley has taken to TikTok to reveal that the hook under the handlebar at the back of trolleys is designed to hold your shopping bags.

"Here is a Woolworths trolley hack. On the back of every trolley, there is a courtesy hook so you can hang your hat or your reusable bags, so you don't have to carry them around the store," he explained in the clip

The roast chook theory

And while this is life-changing news to some people, specifically me, others thought the hook served a different purpose.

"Definitely to hang roast chook to keep it away from cold products," one user theorised.

Another said, "Yep, it's good for your roast chicken so it doesn't spoil other food."

And other interesting suggestions flowed in, with one saying, "I use it to hang those big olive oil containers off," and then this person claimed, "It's for your keys."

"My mum hangs her purse off it," shared a different woman.

Meanwhile, others said they knew it was for shopping bags all along, because of course they did...

"I thought everyone knew that," one user wrote.

"It's amazing how many people don't know what they are for. Truly confusing to watch all those bags in the trolleys," concluded someone else.

Then one woman sarcastically quipped, "Another utterly astounding 'hack'/I had NO IDEA OMG."
