People are just finding out the actual flavour of orange and green snakes

"How can this be? I'm questioning my entire life," one person lamented after finding out the "distressing" news.

Influencer reveals the real flavour of orange and green Allen's snakes

In a revelation that's blowing the minds of lolly enthusiasts across Australia, Allen's iconic Snakes are actually not the flavours you might think, specifically - the orange and the green ones.

Comedian Tanya Hennessy brought this 'distressing news' to light in a TikTok video, astonishing her 339,000 followers.

Contrary to belief, the orange snake isn't orange-flavoured and the green snake isn't lime.

We've been living a lie

"I found out some distressing news last night and just thought I'd throw the information your way," Tanya said, starting her video.

"You know Allen's Snakes? The best. Iconic. You know the orange Allen's Snake - what do you think the flavour is? Orange right? No, the flavour is actually apricot... What? Mind blown."

She then expressed that she wasn't 'okay' after revealing that the 'lime' green flavour is actually lemon-flavoured.

And in another follow-up clip, she shared that the yellow flavour, since it can't be lemon, is actually pineapple!

But wait, there's more! She drops another bombshell, revealing, "the red is strawberry" and "purple is blackberry."

"This changes everything"

Commenters were quick to respond and express their utter disbelief.

"Why would you tell me this? I thought orange was my favourite but I hate apricot! How can this be? I'm questioning my entire life," lamented one viewer.

Another simply said, "This changes everything."

And a third joked, "This means my whole childhood is a lie!"

Meanwhile, someone questioned, "How is orange apricot?! Orange is my favourite and I hate apricot!"

Someone else admitted, "Orange and green are my favourites, but I had no idea that was the flavour of them."

Still confused?

Since the clip went viral, a spokesperson for Allen's confirmed the news.

"Tanya Hennessy obviously has a well-tuned palate. She's absolutely correct!" they told Yahoo Lifestyle.

Here's the official breakdown of all the flavours.

Green – Lemon

Orange – Apricot

Yellow – Pineapple

Red – Strawberry

Purple – Blackberry

And for those who can't get enough of the red and purple flavours (that's 64% of lolly-lovers, according to Allen's), the confectionary company announced a surprise last year with the release of Allen's Berry Snakes Alive.

The packet includes blackberry (purple) and strawberry snakes (red), as well as two new flavours: blueberry (light purple) and raspberry (pink).
