Every parent wants their child to be liked at school - including by the teacher.

It just makes life more pleasant and easier for everyone, right?

Even better if they're a 'class favourite'.

If you asked a teacher, they'd probably deny that they have favourite students - teacher's pets - for whom they have a soft spot.

But one teacher has now admitted what we knew all along - they prefer some kids to others.

"The students we can joke about with"

Taking to TikTok, a teacher by the name of Mrs Pope revealed how to spot the favourite kid in the classroom.

She said: "This one is entirely dependent on who the teacher is as a person.

"Some teachers are really good at not showing who their favourites are, and others... not so much.

"For me, I'm a very sarcastic person, I am usually very sarcastic with the students that are my 'favourite.'

"But generally the favourites are the students we can joke about with (without too much disruption to the whole class.)"

"I despise when teachers do this"

Many of the 80k viewers agreed with Mrs Pope, with at least 10k liking the clip.

"Agree on the joking ones or the ones who share things with me," one student said.

Another added, "I am naturally so sarcastic, and it just works well when I have a sarcastic teacher."

Lots of viewers fondly recalled the schoolteacher with whom they had an affinity; but some didn't like that there are favourites at all.

For example, this viewer: "I'm sorry but I DESPISE when teachers joke around with their favorites and have inside jokes with them because it just makes everyone else feel left out and bad."

Another agreed, writing, "So my math teacher has extra classes with a classmate of my mine, and she favors him. It's obvious and he knows the lesson in advance."

Many viewers were confident they were often the teacher's pet, whilst others were sure they weren't.

"I think I was a teacher favourite once. My teachers tended to favour the athletic kids and the popular kids. Not the dorky nerdy kids like me," one shared.

Another sadly added, "Every time I see that one teacher I just wanna cry... I'm trying so hard, I'm even staying up to 2pm only to study and she's acting like I don't exist."

The comments section also saw teachers sharing how they dealt with their students, with one writing, "I think my favorite kids don't know it and my other students think they're the favorite. That's okay I love 'em all."

Another said, "Yes! I'm sarcastic with all my kids. Favorites are a secret though. I'm equally sarcastic with all of them, but the tough ones tend to be my faves."

And this teacher admitted: "I work hard to make sure my favorites and the kids that drive me nuts never usually know it, so all feel loved."
