“So you can’t pray for a healthy baby anymore, you can’t even wish for health?” Comedian Kev argues in the viral video.

Influencer Kim Perry is no stranger to pregnancy; a mum of three, she will soon welcome her fourth.

She has a follower count of 124,00 followers, who regularly tune in to watch her fitness routines and daily activities, raising three daughters under seven.

But when she posted a lighthearted video to her channel, she didn’t expect the reaction she received.

Comedian hits back after influencer mum slammed for praying for a 'healthy baby'

Influencer targeted for “praying for a healthy baby”

The short video has since been deleted from TikTok but remains on Instagram. In the clip, the American influencer stood in her kitchen with her hands covering her eyes.

“Ignoring everyone who says ‘it better be a boy this time’ and just praying for a healthy baby,” the caption read.

The clip went viral, and accompanying comments soon followed, with the majority of viewers taking umbrage with a particular part of the clip - “praying for a healthy baby.”

Some were furious that Kim would pray for such things, implying she didn’t want a baby with disabilities or that babies who weren’t “healthy” were unworthy of the same love.

“Whatever ‘healthy’ means?” interrogated a perturbed parent. “If it’s not “healthy” then your prayers won’t be answered?”

“Mum of an unhealthy kid here to say that those babies are equally valuable and worthy of love,” added another.

When Kim responded to the comment with “sending you guys so much love,” she was met with another angry response.

“Not sure what you mean by sending her love when you just insulted her child for not being healthy,” the comment read.

“You can’t say anything on the internet without somebody putting words in your mouth”

Before the clip was deleted, a Texas-based comedian, Kev On Stage, hit back at the assumptive comments, shutting them down one by one.

“There is nothing you can say on the internet that somebody can’t make negative,” he began.

“And there’s also nothing you can say on the internet that someone can’t then put words in your mouth and say something you did not say.”

The comedian stressed the influencer did not say “that unhealthy kids aren’t worthy of love”, rather, she was praying for a healthy baby.

“So you can’t pray for a healthy baby anymore, you can’t even wish for health?” he asked his audience.

“We don’t need the internet; we definitely don’t need comments,” he continued. “‘Cause people will say you said anything.”

“The internet is a wild place”

The comedian’s video subsequently went viral, accumulating over 1.4 million views in just over a day.

The majority of comments were in support of the mum-of-three, highlighting the ridiculousness of their remarks.

“This is like someone who's engaged saying ‘I pray the marriage is happy and everlasting’ and someone saying ‘I got divorced so no’,” someone wrote. “‘I love my dog!’ ‘So you’re saying non-dog animals are awful?’” another added.

Other mums added their two cents.

“I’m a high-risk pregnancy, and all I’ve wanted is a healthy baby, and so far, he has been,” a woman wrote. “As a NICU mum, I wish health on all babies,” said another.

“As a mum who wanted a girl and got a boy who ended up in the ICU … when I got pregnant the second time, I literally just wanted a healthy baby!” a mum chimed in.

But some understood where the others were coming from.

“As someone who has had a stillborn son, I thought healthy meant alive!” a comment read. “So I was thinking how much I understand the desperate prayers.”

“Wanting a happy healthy child isn’t ableist?” a woman argued, who explained she is disabled. “Hell, healthy doesn’t just mean ‘physically healthy’, it can just mean she wants the child safe and sound and doesn’t care for the gender.”

Some were just plain confused. “I thought that’s what we all say for a pregnant mama!” a person commented. “Isn’t that what we hope and pray for, though?”

“It’s time to log off,” someone put it simply. “The internet is a wild place,” laughed another.

Since posting the video, the mum has been overloaded with comments wishing her nothing but health for her baby.
