Heavy rain falls across much of the Northern Territory, from top to bottom

SIGNIFICANT rain has fallen across most of the Territory overnight, with the promise of a strong wet season coming to fruition in the final weeks of 2020.
The observation station at Dum In Mirrie Island recorded the heaviest amount of rainfall with 53.6mm by 7am, while Point Fawcett (52.4mm) and Point Stuart (51.4mm) also receiving tallies over 50mm.

Darwin Airport received just 13.2mm, while Noonamah (17.6mm), Middle Point (16.6) Pirlangimpi (49.4mm) and Darwin Harbour (13.2mm) were also hit by rain.
Across the Territory, Crocker Island Airport (46.8mm), the Central Arnhem Plateau (46.8mm) and McCluer Island (33.2) weather stations in the Bureau of Meteorology’s Arnhem region which returned the heaviest rainfall readings.
The Bradshaw-Koolendong Valey’s weather station in the Gregory district recorded the Territory’s heaviest reading with 75.4mm while the Red Centre also received healthy downpours with 13.8mm falling at Alice Springs and a massive 70.2mm falling at the Territory Grape Farm.
In the other districts, Tindal (36mm) received the heaviest rainfall in the Carpentaria district, Tennant Creek (26.4mm) in Barkley, Watarrka (11mm) in Lasseter and Rabbit Flat (70.2mm) in Tanami.
