THE Carnival of Colour was true to its name, especially when it came to Fashions on the Field.
The competition was fierce between the 23 ladies who sported various bold colours, accessories and, of course, headwear.
The winner, Stefani Raines, blew the judges away with her off-the-rack dress from Stella Jean and stunning hat from local designer Peacock Millinery.
The youngest competitor, 10-year-old Eloise Watson, designed her own custom-made dress and Best Millinery winner Samantha Brannelly wove her own hat.
Another competitor Emily Kowalewycz modelled an outfit custom-made for her by Darwin-based designer Kevin de Beer.
Mr de Beer said the dress was made of Cambodian silk and the hat from emu eggs.
“The hat represents the resilience of society, still going through with things even though times are tough,” he said.
Bonnie Short looked stunning despite revealing she had only sewed her dress the day before.
“I had another outfit planned but then I put it on and decided I didn’t like it,” she said.
