THE Territory’s Charles Darwin University has come out on top in a ranking of the highest graduate salaries in the country.

Charles Darwin University recorded a median salary of $65,200 in the latest Good Universities Guide, alongside the University of Southern Queensland graduates which shared top spot.

CDU was also ranked second of all universities in Australia in the number of its graduates who secure full-time employment.

The Good Universities Guide also found that 83 per cent of Charles Darwin University graduates were in full-time work after graduation.

CDU vice-chancellor Professor Simon Maddocks, said the five-star ratings for the two measures illustrated the value of studying on campus or online at the Northern Territory’s only university.

“With 70 per cent of our higher education students studying with us online throughout Australia, CDU is serving a vital role well beyond the Territory,” Professor Maddocks said.

“We are especially adept at delivering education for people who cannot attend classes on campus, who work full-time or have family responsibilities.

“This is often the case with people who live in rural and regional communities.

“Clearly our graduates are very well placed after they complete their studies and are quickly making vital contributions to their local economies.”

The vice-chancellor was proud CDU was a place where everyone – both Australian and international students – could strive for their goals and achieve them.

Good Education’s Ross White said local economies and student demographics could have an impact on graduate outcomes.

He said Charles Darwin and USQ had a number of similarities, including being regional universities, having a comparatively low proportion of students commencing directly from high school, and both posting strong results for science graduates.
