DRILLING has begun on the site of Charles Darwin University’s $430 million CBD campus.
Geotechnical drilling began on Saturday to test soil and the substrate at the Cavenagh St car park.
A CDU spokesperson confirmed 12 holes would be drilled.

“The drilling on the site is a preliminary investigation of the subsurface to inform the masterplan and concept design of the Precinct and will assist in determining the cost to develop the Precinct,” they said.
“It is part of the preparatory work required for the design, which will be submitted for development consent in due course.”

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said the drilling would be completed by August 31.
“CDU is leading the building works on the Cavenagh St car park site and is managing the Civic and Education Precinct project, with City of Darwin providing support as required and when requested,” he said.
