“Um, I’m a lash tech, and honestly, WTF. That’s disgusting! I would have been mortified!” one person wrote.

In a now-viral Facebook post, a woman shared her shocking encounter with a new lash technician.

Writing into the Tea Time group, she shared her disturbing experience, explaining that she had thoroughly researched and chosen a technician with great reviews.

However, nothing could have prepared her for what happened during her appointment.

"I didn't feel comfortable"

“Just got my eyelash extensions done today by a new lady. I did research; she had five stars. Tell me why she was using her mouth to blow on my eyes? 😭” the post begins.

She then lists other red flags she noticed but says she was too shocked to walk out.

“She didn’t give me a spoolie so I’m just assuming she uses the same one, she was taping the strip of lashes to my forehead and pushing her hand on my eyelid while lashing the other eye.

“She also didn’t tape my eyelids up and kept telling me to go to sleep because my eyes kept moving. I didn’t feel comfortable sleeping with a new lash tech, let alone someone who breathed their breath on my face.”

"That ain't right"

The hundreds of comments on the post highlighted that people were equally as revolted by the unprofessional situation.

“Um, I’m a lash tech, and honestly, WTF. That’s disgusting! I would have been mortified! So unhygienic,” one person wrote.

Another user chimed in, “The eyelash extension industry is unregulated… This means I could buy a kit off Amazon tonight, and by tomorrow arvo, I could be offering paid services – all legally.”

“Wow, that definitely ain’t right. Maybe they were made-up reviews because what the hell,” one user speculated.

“That is a huge ick,” someone else admitted.

“The way I would screech if someone BLEW on my face, yuck,” claimed a different group member.

A lash technician weighs in

Kidspot reached out to another eyelash technician, Hannah Dawson, to set the record straight about this technician's approach.

“This does not seem right. Depending on what they have asked for and their eye type, the lash tech might not have been used to it, or they have fake reviews,” Hannah said.

“They should have used a fan, a hand or a small electric one instead of her mouth.

“Taping the lashes shut is also important and making sure the client is comfortable is crucial.

“The lash tech obviously wasn’t thinking about the comfort or experience of the client.”
