Enter the pool noodle
The post, shared by group member Elaine, told the group she wanted to bring a touch of Christmas to her home.
“Today I decided to try something new for my bannister,” she wrote.
“I wanted a lighted garland, but my husband was worried it would scratch the wood so I decided to take a different approach with a pool noodle and a hot glue gun.
“I introduce my pool noodle garland.”
The attached images show Elaine’s step-by-step installation of the garland, from attaching the noodle with zip ties to adding the baubles and lights individually.
The result is equal parts spectacular and low-cost, and we know she and hubby would be proud of the finished product.

This isn’t the pool noodle’s first rodeo
It seems the humble pool noodle isn’t unfamiliar with doubling as a Christmas decoration base.
Another mum took to Kmart Inspired Homes and Kmart Home Décor & Hacks Australia to showcase another clever idea.
“You’re probably sick of seeing the pool noodle hack, but here’s another one,” she wrote alongside a gold, silver and pink detailed centrepiece.
“Everything is from Kmart, total cost approximately $50.”
