BACHELOR host Osher Günsberg is officially a bachelor no more.
The 42-year-old presenter and his partner Audrey Griffen wed in a three-day celebration in the Hunter Valley, he reveals in the latest issue of New Idea magazine.
And it was a star-studded affair, with two of The Bachelor’s success stories — couples Sam Wood and Snezana Markoski and Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich — among the 200 guests in attendance at the secret ceremony.
“It’s great. I’m just really, really happy, and I’m so lucky,” Gunsberg told New Idea before the pair jet off for a Japan honeymoon.
Gunsberg revealed that he wrote his own vows, and penned them with Griffen’s 12-year-old daughter Georgia in mind.
“I wrote some vows to Georgia as well as Audrey, because that’s the deal. I’m not entering into a relationship with one person, I’m entering into a relationship with two!” he told New Idea.
Flanked by his brother and best man Ed, Gunsberg stood at the outdoor altar at the Hunter Valley’s Wollombi Barnstay dressed in white linen trousers and a floral tie, while make-up artist Griffin wore an Art Deco gown by Israeli designer Galia Lahav.
After the ceremony, proceedings had a personal, family touch, with Griffen’s daughter performing a specially choreographed dance routine to a Florence and the Machine song during the reception. The wedding cake was homemade — baked by the bride herself.
Last month, Gunsberg revealed that after he and Griffen were less than satisfied with the service provided by their wedding planner, they decided to let him go and organise the event themselves.
“It was an extravagant expense, yes, but I thought this is going to be worth it for peace of mind,” Gunsberg said of hiring a wedding planner, before explaining that the couple decided they could do a better job themselves.
Gunsberg and Griffen have wed almost a year to the day since announcing their engagement, with the TV host heaping praise on his bride-to-be when they confirmed their plans to tie the knot.
“Even though it took me a while, Audrey had great patience and allowed me to go at my own pace and approach carefully ... until I felt everything inside start working again and woke up one morning finding that I was in love with this wonderful woman,” he said at the time.
It is the second wedding for the TV personality formerly known as Andrew G, who ended his three-year marriage to Israeli actor Noa Tishby in 2011.
