Adam and Symon return to Gogglebox Australia for season 14

Only 18 months after they quit Gogglebox, the series’ favourite funnymen Adam and Symon have made a triumphant return to the couch.

Gogglebox originals Adam Densten and Symon Lovett devastated fans when they sensationally quit the show after 10 seasons in late 2019.

Since they left the popular Foxtel reality series to pursue other opportunities, the disease we now know as Covid-19 emerged and has forced many Australians into lockdown for the better part of a year.

As it turns out, that’s what influenced the funny duo to make a surprise return.

“We’ve spent so much time on the couch in the last year, we thought it was only natural to come back to Gogglebox,” the pair said in a statement.

The show, which will debut its fourteenth season on September 8, has announced a few other notable changes.

For the first time since the debut season, the Sydney-based Depechitra family is sitting out this time around, as is the Elias family.

Elsewhere, the Silbery family – made up of three generations including 93-year-old Emmie, her daughter Kerry, and Kerry’s daughter Isabelle, will not appear on the show from the same living room.

Instead, the trio will all Zoom in for their night on the couch.

The same goes for Jad, who will Zoom with new parents Matty and Sarah Marie, while besties Kaday and Chantel will also enjoy Zoom dates.

Five of the six original households are back for another round, including Mick and Di, Lee and Keith, Anastasia and The Daltons. Tim and Leanne and Milo and Nic are also returning to the franchise.

For the first time since Gogglebox’s debut season, the Delpechitra family are sitting out.

Foxtel executive director of television Brian Walsh said Aussies needed the show now more than ever.

“I think, more than ever, Australia is ready for a new season of Gogglebox. It’s the one show on television which pulls no punches and tells it like it is,” Mr Walsh said.

“As we all navigate our way through these challenging times, our wonderful Gogglebox households are bound to give us some television moments to remember.

“We are especially delighted to welcome back to the couch, Adam and Symon, cameo guests for the upcoming season. They are a fan favourite and are always welcome back to the series.”

Gogglebox Australia season 14 premieres on Foxtel’s LifeStyle on September 8 at 7.30pm
