A REMODEL of NT Cricket from an incorporated association to a company will help the Northern Territory’s peak cricketing body develop a capacity to host major events.

NT Cricket chief executive Joel Morrison said the remodel of the organisation, which was voted on by members, would provide greater governance by the body.

“On Friday we held a special general meeting with our members and passed constitution reforms to transition NTC from an incorporated association to a company,” he said.

“This introduces good corporate governance and ensures our business is fit for purpose to run national and international events such as Cricket 365.”

The move, which was first considered in July last year, involved consultation with the NT Cricket’s members, including a forum of Darwin and Districts Cricket Competition clubs and Alice Springs Cricket association Clubs.

The NT Cricket board and management will work to transition the organisation to its new model and a new constitution, with the changes to take effect from July 1, 2021.

The transition to a company was supported by 98 per cent of the board.
