A NEW program aimed at developing Australia’s aspiring cricketers will launch in the Top End this dry season.
Cricket 365, run by NT Cricket, will include One Day and T20 competitions and a representative series between the NT and Australia – but it’s not just about sport.
NT Cricket chief executive Joel Morrison told the NT News the competition would act as a vehicle to grow the NT through international exposure, tourism and economic benefits.

Several high-profile commercial partners are promising to help build the program in the NT that will incorporate Strike League and national teams and bring players from all over to compete over a 2½- month period this year.
“Thirty players in the Top End for 10 weeks provides over 2000 bed nights,” Mr Morrison said.
“But this is just the starting point, we will also have visiting teams as part of our junior program, and we’re in advanced negotiations with professional teams looking to take part in the senior men’s and women’s competitions.
“This will drive further economic activity that businesses across Darwin and Palmerston can benefit from as players, along with their family and friends, get out and about to explore all that the Territory has to offer.”
The competition offers a Strike League One Day and T20 series from June 20 to July 25 and August 15-27 respectively.
The Top End Series, which will have the men’s NT Strike team take on a Cricket Australia squad in a best of three one-day series, is from August 1-8.

One or two BBL teams will also be invited to take part in the T20 competition, similar to the Hobart Hurricanes in 2019.
