JOHNN Johnn’s gelato shop is expanding in to the world of savoury delights and will soon be dishing up burgers.
Childhood mates Johnn Koening and Matt Pratt have partnered up to deliver the Burger Yard Darwin, which will serve up mouth-watering burgers from a food truck in the vicinity of the gelataria.
Mr Pratt is no stranger to running a burger van, having run the Flaming Moo in Darwin a few years ago.
He said they would be serving up the classic burgers that people knew and loved.
“So Johnn and I were kicking ideas around and we decided to reinvent the old burger I was doing, so it’s not quite what it was before,” he said.
“We’re trying to align the product with Johnn Johnn’s so we’re doing good quality food as fast as possible,” he said.
He said they would be sticking to the tried and true burger combinations to gauge an interest in what the public wants.

Burger fans won’t have to wait long before they will be able to down a burger and finish it off with ice cream – as the mates prepare to open up the Burger Yard by the end of the month.
Johnn Johnn’s owner, Mr Koening said he would also coincide the opening of the food van with an expanded range of gelato.
“In mid to late May, the Palmerston shop will open as well. So yeah, so there’s a lot happening for us and it’s exciting,” Mr Koening said.
The business partners believe the new venture would add variety and attract more people to enjoy the city.
