POLICE are hoping to jog someone’s memory as they continue to investigate the historical assault of a 17-year-old girl in bushland around Mindil Beach in December 2019.
The girl was allegedly assaulted by a man wearing a blue surgical face mask.
He is described as having dark skin and black hair. His age is undetermined.
Detective Senior Constable Scott Pearson said police were hoping a fresh appeal for information may help job someone’s memory.
“We have exhausted all avenues of inquiry and we are hoping that we may jog the memory of someone who was in the area,” he said.
“This incident occurred prior to the pandemic, so it would have been unusual to see someone wearing a surgical mask.

“Police would like in particular to speak to a woman who was walking her dog in the area at the time, who stopped to ask the girl if she was all right and gave her some water.”
He said the victim did not suffer any physical injuries as a result of the incident however was disoriented at the time and was unable to provide clear descriptions of either the offender or the woman who helped her afterwards.
