THE red ribbon has been cut and the gates are now officially open at the Stokes Hill Wharf Ferris Wheel at the Waterfront.
In bid to attract more tourists to the Territory, the big wheel will stay at the wharf for the rest of the dry season.
Port Darwin MLA Paul Kirby said it was an exciting day for Darwin and the Ferris wheel was “a wonderful addition”.
“Over the next few weeks for school holidays there will be a lot of kids, people are lined up already and having a go,” he said.
