Each gondola will fit six people for a 10-minute ride, with visitors able to visit the location via a free Waterfront shuttle bus.
Darwin Waterfront general manager Sam Burke said the wheel would provide visitors incredible 360-degree views of Darwin and surrounds.
“It makes sense that the ferris wheel is positioned on the Wharf, providing the best views over Darwin Harbour and back towards the city.”
Port Darwin MLA Paul Kirby said the new attraction was a “fantastic initiative” for the Waterfront.
“On top of all the events they do, the beach club has reopened, movie nights have started and now there’s a Ferris wheel,” Mr Kirby said.
