FOUR of Endeavour Drinks 15 Darwin BWS stores will be receiving a fresh makeover, with the $1 million investment hoping to refresh the look of the liquor outlets by February.

Nightcliff BWS has already been completed under the project, with a new interior and lighting.

The refurbishments come as Endeavour Drinks Group’s bid to launch a Dan Murphy’s store in Darwin hit a major hurdle last week, with their application to the NT Liquor Commission denied.

Endeavour Drinks business development manager James Scott-Mackenzie said the company understood the importance of providing work to locals and keeping the money in the Territory economy.

“We’re making a significant investment in the Territory by engaging local businesses and contractors in our store works program,” he said.

“The vast bulk of the work is going to local businesses because we believe in reinvesting in the communities that support us.”

It has seen 80 per cent of labour hours and about 70 per cent of the $225,000 project budget from the Nightcliff store go to local contractors

BWS stores in Bakewell and at Palmerston Gateway will have refurbishments completed before Christmas, while Parap’s drive-through BWS will be updated in February.

“Although we’re disappointed with the outcome of the Dan Murphy’s licence application, we have not given up on the Territory and hope to connect everyone with a drinks experience they’ll love,” Mr Scott-Mackenzie said.

Endeavour Drinks Group have indicated they will look into the best avenue of appeal, with any official appeal needing to be submitted by Friday October 18.
