Unlikely celebrity seen flying economy

It’s not every day you find a millionaire on-board a commercial flight, let alone flying in economy – but this superstar had somewhere to be.

Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal left passengers in disbelief when he was spotted in economy despite his $240 million fortune.

It’s not every day you spot one of the world’s richest people on-board a commercial flight, let alone flying in economy.

Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal left passengers in disbelief when he was spotted in economy despite his $240 million fortune.

The 37-year-old appeared on court to salute Andy Murray’s last Wimbledon match on Friday, July 5, but before heading to SW19, he flew from Majorca, an island in Spain to Barcelona in his homeland.

Passengers were left stunned when they found the tennis champ comfortably sitting in his economy seat.

“Rafa Nadal omfg,” one fan wrote in an Instagram story alongside a snap of the sports star.

“He is the best,” another demanded, while a third said: “Just awesome”.

An online user found it “humbling” to see a global superstar like Nadal opting for economy class.

“It reminds us that humility and simplicity often accompany true greatness. It’s not the class you fly, but the class you display,” he continued.

However, given it was just a 30 minute flight, others weren’t as impressed.

“It’s a 30 minute flight. I think he’ll manage,” one person joked.

“Does he really not have a private jet,” another asked.

One man demanded the 22 Grand Slam winner went to the toilet just to “show all the nonbelievers that he is actually on the flight”.

Murray – who didn’t play in the singles – was on court for his last match with brother Jamie in the mens’ doubles.

He was due to play mixed doubles with Emma Raducanu but she pulled out due to injury.

Nadal clapped him as he came off court for the last time and watched as he spoke to the Wimbledon crowd.

But – as for celebrities spotted flying in economy, Rafa isn’t the only one.

A few weeks ago, Jennifer Lopez, worth $600 million, opted for a standard ticket on a KLM flight from Naples to Paris, where she travelled for Fashion Week.

The superstar was also dressed casually, wearing a pair of sunnies and a cream jumper for the short flight.

Meanwhile, in mid June, Kanye West and his Australian wife Bianca Censori also hitched a commercial flight, sitting in economy.

West, 47, who was officially listed as a billionaire by Forbes back in 2020, could be seen wearing a white towel bathrobe as he took a snooze in the short clip, while Censori, 29, scrolled on her phone.

The Melbourne-born fashion architect, for her part, swapped her signature bodysuits for a billowing cream dress with ‘Ye’ written into the fabric.
